Omega Is Already Using Apple’s Liquid Metal

August 14, 2010 Gadget No Comments

When we shared with you Apple’s acquisition of Liquid Technologies‘ supermaterial, we noted that liquid metal is already in use across a variety of industries, from sports to aerospace. Or, you might find it on the wristwatch you have now.

An interesting guided video through Omega’s manufacturing process illustrates how the company fuses Apple’s new material into the bezel and face of its new watches, creating a gorgeous, durable result. Speculation remains as to whether Apple will use its liquid metal for similarly aesthetic ends, or something more functional.

Morse Code Clock

June 23, 2010 Gadget No Comments

It seems that no one uses Morse code anymore, I don’t even think the military teaches it like they did. Well you can be the lone man that stands against progress. Just make yourself the Morse Code Clock and you’ll keep your knowledge a whole lot more fresh. You never know when that could come in handy, come some apocalyptic situation and you might just have to teach the world how to use it all over again.

The clock works by just tapping it on the top when you’re ready to learn the time. After you tap it, it’ll show you what time it is by lighting up in a Morse code sequence. Of course you will be in danger of looking like a know it all when your friends ask you the time and you whip out your Morse Code Clock. You can look into how to do this by going here and you can watch a video of it in action.

Part of a healthy diet often involves eating just the right portions, but for most of us who aren’t too scientifically inclined, how do we carve out the correct amount to put into our mouths on a daily basis? Well, the Perfect Portions Scale hopes to help, functioning as your in-house Nutrition 101 device. This is a combination device that brings together a food scale as well as a nutritional calculator, featuring an integrated database of 1,999 different foods alongside the added ability to hold another 99 custom entries – perfect just as well, since different countries have different, quirky foods which isn’t available universally. All you need to do is zero the scale, drop down your food and press in the correct food code for the scale to have an idea on what it is measuring. When its processor does the job, all nutritional stats alongside the total weight will be shown on an LCD display which looks just like the Nutrition Facts labels available on today’s food packaging. For $59.99 a pop, it sure does sound like a good and affordable investment.

Lighted Stovetop lets you pick the color

July 19, 2010 Gadget No Comments

The first keyboard and mouse I owned that actually allowed me to pick the color of the lighting had me captivated. To me it was the greatest invention ever created at the time. Thankfully LED lighting has not been limited to just computer accessories. Sure, there have been times when the LED lights go a little overboard, but in the case of this stovetop, it just enhances the looks.

This bright white style makes your stovetop look a whole lot more modern and chic. If you’re the type that loves to paint and try all different colors just to change things up a little, then this would be a handy item to have around. Not only is it filled with LED lights, but ones that change colors. That means you can change out the coloring time and time again to go with your décor. This is from Gorenje’s “Touch of Light” collection that was designed by Karim Rashid. That sadly means that this will probably be a little hard to get your hands on by being either expensive or just limited in numbers.
