Play Hopscotch on your calculator

June 14, 2010 Gadget No Comments

No childhood is complete without a few rounds of hopscotch now and then. Sure, it’s a little outdated to most kids today, but it’s still a well loved classic. For those of you that miss the days of hopping around on those little squares, you might like this new calculator. It shows the world that although you’re a responsible adult now, but you once were a child who was perfectly content with nothing more than hopscotch.

The numbers on the calculator are really nothing special, it’s how the calculator is laid out that makes it interesting. Part of the keys are lightly colored and the numbers themselves have a dark gray color. The darker keys make the calculator look like it has a miniature hopscotch game already going. Now instead of just punching in calculations, you can play hopscotch with your fingertips. Currently the design by Vadim Klbardin is in the search for manufacturers, so right now it’s not available.

Vibrating Seats Alert You Of Nearby Cars

July 12, 2010 Gadget No Comments

A researcher from Yale University has created car seats that will keep the driver alert and aware of their surroundings. Instead of giving visual alerts it gives ones by touch. It’s an interesting concept that may make you feel like you’re playing a video game, but if it helps then it’s worth a try. Anything is worth cutting down on accidents in an area that is jam packed full of traffic.

It’s done by basically lining the seat with a whole lot of cellphone vibration motors. When a driver comes up from the left, the left of the seat will start to vibrate more and more the closer the car gets. In some ways it seems like it might get a little annoying, but I almost think it’d become just like listening to your turn signal. Eventually you just get used to it.

Oregon Magnetic Weather Hub

June 12, 2010 Gadget No Comments

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI’ve always wanted one of the electronic weather stations, but for some reason I’ve never really gotten around to purchasing one. In part it’s due to the price and that I can hop on the internet and get a mostly accurate weather forecast. However, this tiny weather hub might be enough to get me to cave and purchase one. Especially since the hub can be hung on your fridge thanks to the handy little magnet.

It’s a pretty small fridge magnet, measuring 6.5 by 0.5 by 3.5 inches. It tells the indoor temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, you can select your preference on the device. It also shows a 12 to 24 hour weather forecast with a graphical icon. Sure, it doesn’t show a ton of information, but for $1.49 it tells plenty of information. You can pick the Oregon Weather Hub up through Amazon.
